Ireland will be without Ed Joyce as well as captain Kyle McCallan today when they take on Wiltshire in the first round of the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy.
Merrion left-hander Joyce, who scored his first county championship century for Middlesex last week, was given the chance to join the Ireland squad after last night's televised game against Essex but declined to make the overnight trek from Chelmsford to Salisbury.
McCallan's excuse is a more familiar one in amateur circles - he took up a post as PE teacher at Grosvenor Grammar school this week and has promised his new employers that work will take precedence over cricket.
In his absence, Jason Molins leads the side for the first time in his 36th appearance for Ireland. South African Andre Botha is included as the one overseas player each side is allowed.
