A hat-trick by Filippo Inzaghi fired Juventus to a 4-1 win at Dynamo Kiev which secured their place in the Champions' League semi-finals 5-2 on aggregate. Juventus, who finished runners-up to Manchester United in their qualifying group, had been held 1-1 at home but maintained their quest for a third successive appearance in the final with some ease.

It was an unforgettable night for Inzaghi, who had scored Juventus' equaliser in the first leg and bagged the winner against Manchester United in their final group match. Last season's runners-up took a 29th-minute lead in the Ukraine capital when Inzaghi scored his first of the night.

Juventus then conceded an equaliser to Sergei Rebrov after 54 minutes but Inzaghi completed his treble with goals in the 65th and 73rd minutes and Alessandro del Piero made it 4-1 a minute from time.

Del Piero and Inzaghi both finished with six goals in seven European Champions' Cup appearances this season and, on last night's showing, the two Italian internationals have not finished yet.

The Italians were joined in the last four by six-time winners Real Madrid, who beat Germany's Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 at home for a 4-1 aggregate triumph.

Leverkusen goalkeeper Dirk Heinen had to be in superb form to keep his team in contention, pulling off two superb first-half saves as Raul kept Real surging forward.

But Heinen had no answer when French international Christian Karembeu scored in the 49th minute for his second goal of the quarterfinal, adding to the one he netted in the first leg.

Fernando Morientes made it 2-0 in the 56th minute with a fine header and Fernando Hierro, who will miss the first leg of the semi-final after picking up a yellow card, made it 3-0 with an 88th-minute penalty.
