Joe Kernan has named an unchanged Armagh side for Sunday's National Football League Division One final against Wexford at Croke Park, reports Seán Moran.
Ronan Clarke received a knock in last week's semi-final win over Mayo and had to be replaced before the end of the match. Given his fine performance on the day there had been concerns about his fitness but these were allayed yesterday.
"We had been worried by the injury down the back of his leg and ankle. He carried it through the game but it kept tightening and he was finding it harder to move and eventually asked to come off. It was sore and bruised and he wasn't able to do much earlier this week. But the physio's given him the all-clear."
Fielding an unchanged team is something of a novelty for Kernan in this campaign during which he has had to cope with injury and the absence of the Crossmaglen players earlier in the season.
Armagh are still looking for the county's first league title as are Wexford.
Coincidentally both were defeated by Meath in their most recent appearances in league finals, Armagh in 1994 and Wexford in 1946.
ARMAGH (SF v Wexford): P Hearty; A Mallon, F Bellew, P McCormack; A Kernan, K McGeeney, C McKeever; J Toal, P McGrane; M O'Rourke, J McEntee, O McConville; S McDonnell, R Clarke, B Mallon.
UNDER-21 FC: Galway manager Peter Ford faces an anxious wait on fitness reports on two of his key players ahead of tomorrow's All-Ireland under-21 football semi-final against Cork.
Ford will wait until tonight before naming the side to play the Munster champions.
Towering midfielder Barry Cullinane and centre forward Damien Dunleavy are carrying injuries and are doubtful for the semi-final in Limerick.
SF CHALLENGE: The official opening of the Colm Maher Memorial Stand, Portarlington, Laois, will take place on Monday at 7pm, which will be followed by an intercounty senior football challenge game between Laois and Carlow at 7.30.
