Good news for Kilcock Golf Club. The members voted overwhelmingly at an extraordinary general meeting recently in favour of buying the club from the current owners, the Canning family. In existence since 1983, the club comprises 18 holes on 95 acres just off the Dublin-Galway Road just outside Kilcock. The membership, at present, is 335 ordinary and 114 lady associates and the club was in the process of examining equal rights for all members when it was put on the market.
However, the decision of the e.g.m. now gives the membership the decision on its future. Gerry McConnell, the club captain, was delighted with the outcome of the meeting. "The members are more than happy to be acquiring the club. The Canning family have built a great facility in Kilcock and they will continue to help with the maintenance of the course while we get on our feet. We have a great bunch of members and we pride ourselves on our welcoming and homely atmosphere." he said. Some transferable memberships are still available and those interested in joining should contact the secretary, Paul Delaney, at 087-2564046. Entry fees, including the first year's subscription, are £2,950 or ordinary members and £1,800 for lady associates.
