LIMERICK SHC:KILMALLOCK had a convincing 2-18 to 1-8 win over Na Piarsaigh at the Gaelic Grounds yesterday.

The winners hit 18 wides, trailed by three points at the interval but scored 2-11 in the second half and restricted Na Piarsaigh to 1-1 with the goal coming with the last action of a very poor game.

Gavin O’Mahony, one of the players who refused to play under Justin McCarthy this year, was a star for Kilmallock whose midfielders, Eoin Ryan and Paudie O’Brien, scored 1-9 between them.

Meanwhile, a superb goal by Damian Moloney seven minutes from the end clinched a final place for Emmets as they defeated Knockainey 1-16 to 0-9.

The sides were level four times inside 18 minutes but by half-time Emmets led by double scores, 0-10 to 0-5, thanks mainly to Aidan McAuliffe, who scored three unanswered points. Knockainey were only five points in arrears before Moloney’s goal put the issue beyond doubt.
