This week's foul taste award goes to promoter Don King - a many times winner.
King, who has single-handedly been able to keep the sport of boxing in a permanent state of disrepute, was asked about the possibility of Muhammad Ali stepping back into the ring for a comeback at 57. Not only is Ali dangerously old for such a move, he has advanced symptoms of Parkinson's Disease. Most people, including hard-bitten promoters, reacted to the idea with revulsion and disgust. Only King surpassed himself.
"A return to the ring for Ali could be possible," he said. "But only as pure entertainment."
Part of a long list of pure entertainment in fact. McClellan, Watson. . .
