Two first half tries converted by Shane Carty, who also added an early penalty, helped Castleknock to victory in this replayed first round Leinster Schools' Junior Cup game at Westmanstown yesterday.
Out-half Carty gave his side the lead with a fourth minute penalty in a first half dominated by Castleknock. Timi Vivour scored a try in the 27 minute and Cameron McDonnell gave King's Hospital a mountain to climb when he went over for Castleknock's second try in injury time.
The bigger King's Hospital pack dominated most of the second half with Chris McClean, Conor O'Sullivan and scrum-half Keith Sothern impressive. However, although Michael McEllin breached that defence in the 38th minute, Castleknock never looked like losing. Trevor Byrne's injury time try arriving too late to affect the outcome.
