You know the story by now: they eat dogs in South Korea and some folk aren't best pleased about it - including FIFA president Sepp Blatter who's a bit worried that visiting Westerners will be a tad perturbed to discover that the hot dogs they munch during the World Cup will be literally that, microwaved Fidos. Animal rights activist Brigitte Bardot (better known to your parents as "Screen Goddess") isn't happy either but the co-chairman of the World Cup organising committee, Chung Mong-Joon, has attempted to placate her by sending her a copy of South Korean blockbuster movie Take Care Of My Cat.
The movie's plot? Five young South Korean women take turns to look after a stray kitten. And? Well, that's it really. Still, sounds better than Pearl Harbor. Low budget, perhaps, but Mong-Joon believes it proves that South Koreans can love their animals without eating them. Problem? Well, his fellow country men aren't exactly backing up his claim. The most popular car sticker in the country at the moment is: "A dog is not just for Christmas, with a good freezer there may be some left over for the World Cup." Christ.
