Langer has the incentive to deliver at Dutch Open

It's all a bit like waiting for a bus

It's all a bit like waiting for a bus. Having waited 12 months to play a tournament on a links course, all of a sudden two come along together. If not quite the challenge that Royal Lytham was for the world's best last week, the links at Noordwijkse in Holland for the Dutch Open is one with high dunes and the likelihood of a good, stiff wind to make shot-making an important factor.

Stephen Leaney certainly likes the course. He won there last year to take his second Dutch Open title in three years. In fact, he produced a quite devastating display of frontrunning to win by four shots from Bernhard Langer a year ago and, at odds of 40 to 1, he must represent decent value.

Hold your money, though. Leaney hasn't had a top-10 finish this season - and better value could well be found towards the more favoured part of the betting.

Darren Clarke is joint-favourite, and rightly so, with Langer at odds of 7 to 1. Clarke is enjoying a rich vein of form but it remains to be seen how much has been taken out of him after his exertions at Lytham.

So, our tip this week is Langer, at odds of 12 to 1. His form this season on the US Tour has been superb - and, apart from his desire to make the Ryder Cup team on his own merit, he also has the further incentive of playing on course which demands patience and good course management. They are both assets which the German possesses.
