FAI general secretary Brendan Menton says he is confident Lansdowne Road will be made available to the association in the event that it is required to the association if needed to host a World Cup play-off game in mid-November.
The play-offs coincide with Ireland rugby world cup qualifiers, with the first leg scheduled for November 10th, the same day Ireland are due to play Western Samoa and the second for the 14th, three days before the rugby international against New Zealand.
"If it does end up we're in the play-offs," said Menton, "and we're drawn to play at home on the Wednesday, we're certain we can get our seats out in time for the New Zealand game. It normally takes three days but we would have to provide the resources required to complete the job in two. Getting to Getting drawn at home first would be more difficult and we are talking to the IRFU about that possibility.
