ONE HALF of the famed Kenny household was happy last night after Kinvara Boys snatched a late victory in the final of the Leinster Junior Cup at Frank Cooke Park yesterday.
Harry, a Shamrock Rovers legend, was pitted in the Kinvara midfield against younger brother Anthony, formerly with St Patrick's Athletic but now plying his trade with Ashtown Villa.
After 90 minutes of hard endeavour, the sides were locked on one goal apiece. With extra time almost up, a replay looked certain. But an underhit back pass from Ashtown's Robert McGivern left Anthony McMahon's in all sorts of bother. The goalkeeper could only look on in horror as his rushed clearance cannoned off Robert O'Reilly and into the net.
O'Reilly had set up Kinvara for the first score when his throughball to Alan Radcliffe saw Radcliffe upended in the goalmouth. Mark Clancy slotted home from the resulting penalty.
Masterson responded for Ashtown 20 minutes into the second half with a spectacular shot from outside the area that beat goalkeeper Kenny Pidgeon.
