Former Irish champion Peter Lawrie shares the lead after the first round of the British professional golf tour qualifying school at Hawkstone Park in Shropshire.

Lawrie shot a four-under-par 68 to leave him alongside Shaun Webster, David Brunton and Ian Ellis at the top of the leaderboard. Warrenpoint's Jim Carville began with a 70, Tralee's Graham Spring shot 71 while John Kelly, of The Ward, and Neil Manchip, from Royal County Down, are among the group on level par 72. Knockbracken's Geoff Loughrey is in danger of missing the cut after an opening 76.
