Leading juveniles not for Dubai

Leading owner Hamdan Al-Maktoum's classic contenders will not be part of his shipment of horses to Dubai this winter

Leading owner Hamdan Al-Maktoum's classic contenders will not be part of his shipment of horses to Dubai this winter. He confirmed he will again follow the Godolphin example and winter some of his team in the sun of the United Arab Emirates.

But the two-year-olds that have performed best this season will remain in Britain.

A final list of those that will head to the Middle East has yet to be drafted but it is not expected to include horses such as Hayil, Haami, Alboostan, Muthathir and Rabi.

Last winter the owner picked some of his most promising two-year-olds to winter in Dubai but the experiment did not come off.

"It was not a success. They came back early in March to be with their trainers and ran into the bad weather," conceded Sheikh Hamdan.

"I will take some two-year-olds but not those that will be aimed for the Classics. Those I take will come back the same time as Godolphin."
