Shamrock Rovers 0 Sligo Rovers 0:Contrary to what many believe has been an encouraging year for Shamrock Rovers, manager Pat Scully was scathing of his team's season after Saturday's draw and said they didn't deserve to get into Europe.
While Europe is still mathematically possible, this result all but ends Shamrock's slim hopes of qualifying. "Over the course of the whole season, I would say, even though people will contradict me, I don't think we've deserved to get into Europe," said Scully. "I've been unbelievably unhappy with so much of the season.. . Rebuild now for next year? I would say that would be an understatement."
A bad early miss by Gerard Rowe and a clearance off the line by Sligo's Gavin Peers from David Cassidy in the second half was the best Scully's men could muster. Matt Gordon and Adam Hughes wasted Sligo's only two chances.
