The programme for the weekend in the Whitney Moore & Keller cricket league has been somewhat curtailed.
Only two matches are on offer today, which is in any event dominated by the Senior Two cup final between Pembroke and The Hills at Castle Avenue, while the Section A game between Merrion and Carlisle scheduled for tomorrow at Anglesea Road has been called off as a mark of respect to the family of Alf Solomons, whose passing yesterday will be regretted by everyone involved in cricket.
Also off, for the same reason, is today's Senior Three match between Carlisle Three and Leinster Two. And tomorrow's Fingal Championship final is also off, with a new date yet to be chosen, as the semi-final replay goes ahead at the Nevitt tomorrow.
Today, Leinster will hope to consolidate their position in League Section A at the expense of Rush at Rathmines, while Phoenix, at home, are not likely to be unduly troubled by struggling CYM. The match of the day tomorrow will be the Section B meeting of Railway Union and Clontarf (who have three wins from three outings) at Park Avenue.
