George Graham has achieved the first part of his strategy at Elland Road by tightening up the defence, but goals were scarce at both ends when Leeds played last season and the impending departures of both Tony Yeboah and Tomas Brolin will keep options strictly limited up front.

Gary Kelly certainly seemed to thrive under the new regime which is good news for Mick McCarthy but the club needs David Hopkin (pictured) to produce the sort of strike rate out of midfield that he managed in the first division with Crystal Palace and a steady supply of goals from new striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink if they are to improve noticeably on last season's league showing.
