Theption of building the proposed six-furlong track at Leopardstown further towards the Foxrock side of the racecourse, and running it through the infield towards its current finishing line, is being put before racing professionals for feedback.

Building the sprint track closer to the far side of the course is the option favoured by the Leopardstown authorities, who say the viewing for spectators would be better than that currently on offer.

"The questions of sight lines, elevation and configurations are being put out to the industry by the board of the Irish Horseracing Authority, and it is now a process of listening to what we are told," said the Leopardstown manager, Matt O'Dwyer yesterday.

"We see a new track coming at an angle from Foxrock, splitting the main round course and up through the golf course before finishing almost near the current finishing post," he added.

Such building work is expected to take up to two years and will mean a realignment of the golf course too. O'Dwyer said, however: "My priority is to maintain racing with as little disruption to all the facilities at Leopardstown as possible."

The Giles Bravery-trained Brest is bound for Ireland after staying on gamely to hold newcomer Snip Snap at Bath yesterday.

Bravery said: "She will now go for the Tattersalls £200,000 Challenge Sales race at The Curragh on August 25th and that's why we had to come here and win with her today."
