JL Lewis, (39), earned his first PGA title yesterday by prevailing over Mike Brisky on the fifth hole of a brilliant sudden-death play-off to decide the John Deere Classic tournament in Coal Valley, Illinois.
A dramatic run of sudden death holes came to an end at the par-4 16th, where Lewis drained a five-foot birdie putt after an impressive approach from the left rough to claim the $360,000 top prize.
Brian Henninger, who led the tournament on Saturday, finished third equal.
