Limerick victim of rain

Tomorrow's scheduled Limerick fixture was abandoned yesterday after prolonged rain had waterlogged the track

Tomorrow's scheduled Limerick fixture was abandoned yesterday after prolonged rain had waterlogged the track. The course manager Colette Henchey said: "It hasn't stopped raining here for the last 10 days and after the Turf Club inspector of courses examined the track, we had no option. There had been a chance of going ahead up to Thursday night but the heavy rain then was too much and it's now unraceable."

The £20,000 Murphys Munster National had been the intended race for the Gold Cup favourite Dorans Pride. His trainer Michael Hourigan said: "It's disappointing and at the moment I have no alternative race for him."

The Roscommon programme, rearranged for Monday, has been abandoned. The course is waterlogged.
