THE former European Tour professional Bill Longmuir extended his lead to three shots in the £72,000 Glenmuir Professional Championship at the Count Louth Golf Club yesterday with a gritty two under par 71.
That put the Scot on a 10 under par total of 209 and comfortably clear of five players.
He leads Russell Weir, of Cowal, Gordon Law, of U hall, Ged Furey, of Pleasington, Bob Cameron, of Sundridge Park, and Peter Cowen from Lindrick.
Weir perhaps missed the best opportunity to close the gap. He rued a sloppy double bogey at the second hole but atoned for that slip with five further birdies.
. The dictates of television will mean that the third round of the Murphy's Irish Open at Druid's Glen Golf Club on July 6th will have a later finish than normal. RTE are also broadcasting live the women's singles final from Wimbledon that day and, as a result, Saturday week's play at Druid's Glen is not scheduled to finish until approximately 6.45 pm.
