St Munchin's Coll 5 PBC 12: Presentation Brothers College, Cork, are through to the semi-final of this year's Munster Schools' Junior Cup after scoring a dramatic victory over St Munchin's at Thomond Park yesterday.
With the game in injury-time and delicately balanced at 5-5, a replay was looking imminent. However, a break from full-back Barry O'Driscoll set up a ruck one metre from the St Munchin's line, and lock Daniel Lucey took the initiative to drive over for the match-winning try.
St Munchin's got the perfect start after eight minutes when centre Craig O'Hanlon touched down after a beautifully weighted chip from his namesake Gareth, landed in his path and the centre made no mistake in bagging the five points.
Pres struck back in the 20th minute through a fine individual try from centre Simon Zebo. And, in a tension-filled second half, it seemed this tie was heading for a replay until Lucey struck for the match-winning try.
Kevin Kidney, son of Leinster coach Declan, added the two points to set up a mouth-watering semi-final against Ard Scoil Rís
