Lungo worth following

Len Lungo, the leading trainer at Hexham, is the man to side with at the Northumberland track today

Len Lungo, the leading trainer at Hexham, is the man to side with at the Northumberland track today. The Carrutherstown trainer notched a double at the last meeting at the track and it is worth perming five of his runners in a multiple bet.

To-Day-To-Day can set the ball rolling in the EBF Novices' Hurdle.

The five-year-old was a disappointing favourite on his Ayr reappearance, being pulled up, but is worth another chance in a race featuring several inexperienced animals.

He ran three solid races last season and though he will be suited by distances beyond two miles, Hexham offers a very severe test, particularly with the going forecast to be heavy.

Plumbob should represent good value in the Prince's Trust Volunteers Handicap Chase.

The nine-year-old was one leg of Lungo's brace earlier in the month, where he strode to a very easy 14-length defeat of My Saltarello in a selling handicap hurdle.

But he is better than a plater and his stamina will come in useful today. One has to be reappeared to take a chance on Lungo's Kris Green, who makes his reappearance in the Federation Brewery Handicap Hurdle, where recent course winner Just Lizzie will be a tough nut to crack.

But Phar Echo should outstay his rivals in the John Eustace Smith Trophy over three miles and a furlong.

Suited by a good test over hurdles, Phar Echo ran well in a novice chase at Ayr on his latest start. His lack of acceleration just found him out over two miles and five furlongs as he went down by three and a half lengths to Scotia Nostra, the pair 11 lengths clear.

Lord Of The Sky is an obvious choice to ensure a good day for Lungo in the Federation Brewery Medallion Lager National Hunt Flat Race.

The former point-to-pointer won well in a similar race at Carlisle, beating Lingdale Lad by a length and a quarter.

Paul Nicholls can land a double at Chepstow with Flagship Uberalles and Nearly An Eye.

Flagship Uberalles, ran well to finish three lengths second to Zafarabad at Newbury and can take the Donegal Hurdle.

Nearly An Eye is making excellent progress - he won very smoothly at Newbury last time - and can complete a four-timer in the Scottish Equitable/Jockeys' Association Handicap Chase.
