A free taken by Colin Lynch in the third minute of injury time gave Lissycasey a fortunate draw in their first Clare senior football final at Miltown Malbay yesterday. With time running out, Doonbeg led by 1-7 to 1-3. However, a pass from Martin Daly set up a David McCarthy goal and Lynch forced the draw.

Doonbeg, who had midfielder, Kieran Nugent, sent off two minutes before half-time found the net first, with a goal from corner forward Gerry Killeen after eight minutes, but Lissycasey struck back with a fine goal by Pat Healy. In the second half, Doonbeg were in control for long periods but failed to kill off the Lissacasey threat.
