AIRTRICITY LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION:Galway United 2 Bohemians 2
A NIGHT of high drama at Terryland Park concluded in a welter of excitement as Bohemians were forced to come from behind twice to draw.
Paddy Madden grabbed a brace for Bohemians as a young Galway United outfit came close to registering a second win of the campaign over the standard-bearers.
In the 19th minute Karl Sheppard, who had caused the Gypsies plenty of bother at Dalymount Park earlier in the campaign, was shoved in the area by Brian Shelley.
Referee Anthony Buttimer awarded Galway a penalty and dismissed Brian Shelley. Stephen O’Donnell’s spot-kick was precise.
Sean Connor’s team needed to show resilience too and this was offered by the rugged determination of Ciarán Foley in the centre of the park, who assisted the tidy O’Donnell.
Bohemians had opportunities too and within minutes of the restart Barry Ryan had to be alert to deny a Killian Brennan free-kick.
Paddy Madden then had the Gypsies back on terms in the 70th minute with an assured finish.
Galway recovered quickly and substitute Tom King edged them in front again in the 74th minute when converting in a packed area.
Now it was Bohemians’ turn to come thundering back and a Barry Ryan clearance rebounded off the inrushing Madden to the net as Bohemians pinched a point.
