Paddy Curry, the head greenkeeper at Castlecomer Golf Club, is retiring after 22 years' service at the club. A very keen golfer himself, he has built a reputation of being one of the best course managers in the country. As a result of the high standards set by Curry, Castlecomer have been selected to host the 1999 Club Youths national finals, which includes the Fred Daly finals, the Girls' Inter-Club team finals and the Junior Foursomes national finals. Curry has also represented Castlecomer in inter-club matches. He played on the Castlecomer team which won the South Leinster Trophy in 1987, and this year he featured on the team which reached the final of the Michael Moore Cup. His son, Michael, is also an excellent golfer, having represented Ireland at youths level. Paddy Curry retired last week but will be on hand to give of his extensive knowledge when needed.
