Marian College scored four excellent tries when they easily accounted for New Ross VS in their Leinster Schools Senior Cup second round game at Gorey yesterday. Encouraged by their first round victory over Ballinteer, New Ross were completely outclassed on this occasion as the Marian pack, following a slow start, gained the upper-hand and won quality possession for their backs.
Despite having dominated the opening half, Marian had to wait until the 29th minute for their opening score, an Albert Allan penalty. However, before the break, they ran in two excellent tries through Shane Healy and Gareth Daly to lead 15-0 at the interval.
Marian remained in total control on the resumption, adding tries through Glen Trehy and Nicholas O'Donovan. New Ross responded with a late, converted try from Danny Conway.
