Mark Scanlon (World junior cycling champion) - Best memory: It has to be a personal one, my win in the World Championships in Valkenberg, Holland. It wasn't just that I won, it was a real team effort. We'd prepared meticulously for the race, and the team was great on the day. Away from cycling, the most vivid memory is of Ireland Under-16 team winning the European Championship in soccer. Ian Rossiter, a classmate in Summerhill College, was in the squad. Worst memory: Unquestionably, it has to be the drugs revelations which tainted this year's Tour de France. Maybe some good came out of it - it should help ensure that it will be a drug-free sport in future.
