Women's football:Reigning league champions Mayo got their Division 1A league campaign off to the worst possible start yesterday in Annascaul as they slumped to a 6-12 to 1-5 defeat against Kerry.
The Kingdom ran riot to rack up a hugely impressive victory with the avalanche of goals beginning as early as the third minute as Debra Murphy found the net.
Further goals from Sarah Houlihan (two), Debra Murphy, Aoife O'Sullivan and Margaret O'Donoghue completed the rout.
Meanwhile, All Ireland champions Cork ground out a hard-fought 1-10 to 1-6 victory against Galway in Mallow to maintain their 100 per cent record in Division 1B.
In the early kick-off in the same group Leinster rivals Kildare and Dublin played out an entertaining draw, 1-12 apiece, as a late Emma Kilduff point rescued a point for Kildare. The impressive Sinead Aherne contributed six points for Dublin.
