Ah, if only it were this easy every week. A sea of hands sprung up before us when the name of Wycombe Wanderers defender Paul McCarthy (right) was nominated for our player of the week award, so we didn't bother nominating anyone else. True, he was our player of the week a fortnight ago too, but if he's going to carry on this FA Cup giant-killing lark what can we do? His goal against Leicester on Saturday was his fifth of Wycombe's cup campaign, only marginally more valuable than his last-ditch tackle that prevented Robbie Savage from scoring. After eight thrill-free seasons at Brighton and another five at Wycombe, since leaving Cork when he was 16, McCarthy was probably due a day in the sun. With an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to, he's got it now.
