Eddie Mccormack was the only player to beat par when the first senior scratch cup of the season was completed at Mount Temple golf club on Sunday. A one under par total of 143 left McCormack, from the Slieve Russell Club, seven shots ahead of Connemara's Damien Mortimer in the FBD-sponsored event, with Mel Flanagan (Co Longford) third on 151. Michael Power from the Moate club won the nett with 147 from local Edward Egan (148) and Jimmy Reilly (Athlone) on 149.
