Cavan 1-11 Tyrone 2-8Cavan and Tyrone will meet again this Wednesday evening (7.30 p.m.) following Tyrone substitute Martin McCreesh's late equalising point in this Ulster minor football championship semi-final at Enniskillen yesterday.
Cavan, who led by 1-6 to 1-4 at half-time, will rue missed goal chances.
The first-half goals came from Tyrone's Damian McDermott, in the fourth minute, and Cavan's came five minutes later, from full forward Peter Monaghan.
After half-time, Patrick Early, who was Tyrone's best forward, proved to be their saviour with a 15th minute goal.
This brought the teams level before Cavan struck for a three-point lead in the final quarter with points from Anton Reilly, free-taker Michael Lyng, and Ciarán Flynn.
From that to the finish, it was a case of dogged defending by Cavan as Tyrone searched for scores. Time was almost up when McCreesh won possession from a throw up and raced in to shoot over.
