BOXING:Wayne McCullough says he is ready to shock European champion Kiko Martinez and then go on to fight for the world super-bantamweight title next year.
The 37-year-old former world bantamweight champion has not boxed in two years, but insists he does not need a warm-up before facing Spaniard Martinez in a non-title 10-rounder at the King's Hall in Belfast on December 1st.
Speaking from his adopted home of Las Vegas, Belfast-born McCullough said: "I'm always in great shape, I haven't stopped training twice a day for two years so I know that I'll be ready for Martinez. I believe if I beat Martinez then I can go on to fight for a world title next year."
Martinez shocked Bernard Dunne when he took the European title from him with an 86-second defeat in August in Dublin.
MOTOR SPORT:McLaren will have to pay over €35 million to the International Automobile Federation (FIA), which will use the money to promote safer motor sport worldwide, Formula One's governing body said on Wednesday.
"Following the judgment of the World Motor Sport Council on September 13th (when McLaren was fined), a sum in excess of $50 million will be paid in December to FIA," the body said in a statement after a meeting of its world council in Paris.
"This will be used to establish the FIA Development Fund, which will assist the work of National Sporting Authorities in promoting the development of safer motor sport worldwide, especially in countries where the motor sport infrastructure is in need of support," the statement read.
The money represents a fine handed to McLaren in September as a result of a spying controversy. FIA had imposed on McLaren a $100 million (€70m) fine and the loss of their 2007 constructors' points.
FIA also confirmed their calendar for 2008, which features Formula One's first night race, to be held in Singapore on September 28th. The new race will extend the season to 18 events, with Canada retained despite previously being given only provisional status.
