St Declan's 1-17 Colaiste Eoin 0-10St Declan's, Cabra captured their third Senior A hurling schools title at O'Toole Park yesterday to make up for last year's disappointment when they were edged out by a goal by St David's.
St Declan's captain Aodhan McInerney turned in an inspiring display up front, the centre forward almost single handedly taking the game to Coláiste Eoin after the break. The two teams had gone in level at 0-9 each with 2006 Dublin minor footballer, Marc O'Cochlain, looking very lively in the early stages for Coláiste Eoin.
But St Declan's turned it up a gear after the break with McInerney firing over three early points before Ger Dodril took a shot on the run to beat the Coláiste Eoin goalkeeper on 44 minutes.
That put St Declan's up by 1-13 to 0-9 and although Coláiste Eoin came back strongly in the last quarter, some fine goalkeeping from Conor Carton kept Coláiste Eoin to just one score after the break.
