Massimo Taibi
Age: 29
Born: Palermo, Sicily
Height: 6ft 3in
Experience: Although he has never played for Italy, he has done the rounds in his homeland and the highlight of his career before joining United was his spell with AC Milan.
Handling: Looks comfortable dealing with the ball.
Agility: Moves around his goal well for such a big man and got across well to his left to save a Patrik Berger effort at Liverpool.
Crosses: Likes to come for crosses, but can make a mistake as he did when he missed Jamie Redknapp's free-kick for Liverpool's first goal.
Shot stopping: Spreads himself well and made two fine blocks from Vladimir Smicer and Robbie Fowler.
Kicking: Confident, strong kicker of the ball.
Overall: Has the same presence in goal Peter Schmeichel had and is a dab hand at saving penalties. But is liable to come for and miss crosses and cannot speak English yet.
Mark Bosnich
Age: 27
Born: Sydney, Australia
Height: 6ft 1in
Experience: An Australian international who played nearly 180 Premiership matches for Aston Villa.
Handling: Solid.
Agility: Moves well around his penalty box.
Crosses: Does not stray from his line that much and does not dominate his area as Schmeichel did.
Shot stopping: One of the best in the business.
Kicking: Awful.
His inability to clear the ball in United's opening game at Everton was embarrassing at times.
Overall: Excellent shot stopper with a decent all round game. Cannot kick the ball well and seems to be becoming injury prone.
Verdict: Sir Alex Ferguson hailed Taibi as the man of the match in the win at Liverpool and the Italian will take some dislodging from the team.
