FAI CUP DRAW:MONAGHAN UNITED'S reward for their defeat of Cork City in the Ford sponsored FAI Cup at the weekend is a trip to the Showgrounds next month for a clash with last year's beaten finalists, Sligo Rovers, just a week before the two sides meet in the final of the league Cup.

Making the quarter-finals of the cup was just the latest success for Mick Cooke’s men in what has been a remarkable season so far with United still also firmly in contention to win promotion back to the top flight as they currently lie second behind Derry in the First Division but having previously beaten Carlow away, they face their toughest test of the competition so far.

The three main contenders for the league title all avoided each other in the quarter-finals and all were handed home ties.

Bray Wanderers will have to overcome the odds by beating Pat Fenlon’s reigning champions.

Twice former winners of the cup, Bray will have to do improve dramatically on their record against Bohemians in the league so far this year. Bohemians have scored seven times without reply in three wins over Wanderers.
