Ireland's top player, Scott Barron, has been ruled out of this week's ITF Futures event at Riverview. The injury-prone Barron, who missed the Davis Cup tie against Slovenia this month because of a shoulder problem, aggravated the injury in training and has declared himself unfit to take the opportunity of mustering ATP points on home soil.
A dejected Barron, who has been a professional for just four years, said: "I have been on the injured list for half of that time." Earlier this year his efforts to get his career back on track were disrupted by a knee injury.
He had received a wild card entry to the main draw along with Davis Cup colleagues Owen Casey, John Doran and Robert Collins.
