Leinster Under-21 FC Quarter-finals: Longford looked dead and buried at the end of normal time at Cusack Park yesterday after a Paddy Mulvihill goal gave Westmeath a two-point lead.
With four minutes of injury-time gone, however, corner forward Francis McGee converted an excellent free and sent the tie into extra-time.Longford led 1-5 to 0-7 at half-time.
Longford substitute David Morgan's goal in the second period of extra-time was the crucial score as wides and defensive errors proved costly for Westmeath.
