Limestone Lad will make a quick reappearance this weekend at either Punchestown or Navan, but which one it is appears to rest with the handicapper.

The James Bowe-owned star is in Saturday's Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown and the Ladbrokes Handicap Hurdle the following day.

Connections acknowledge the latter's three-mile distance is ideal for Limestone Lad, who won at Naas last Saturday, but are loathe to run him in the handicap if he has more than 12st to carry.

Michael Bowe, who trains the horse, said yesterday: "The conditions of the race mean that the handicapper is not limited to a 12st maximum. He could give the horse 13st if he thought it would help get the others into the race and I'm afraid something like that might happen. I don't like going beyond 12st, especially over three miles on soft enough ground. That's a test for any horse."

Bowe added: "The Morgiana is the other option and Punchestown could be a breath of fresh air for him after two races already at Navan. The horse is thriving on his racing."

The Smurfit Champion Hurdle second favourite, Ned Kelly, is now described as unlikely to run in the Morgiana following his winning comeback at Down Royal on Friday.

"On reflection, the ground was a bit softer than I anticipated. He will be entered for the Morgiana but is likely to go straight for the Hatton's Grace," said trainer Edward O'Grady.

However, one intriguing possibility for the race is Youlneverwalkalone whose future for the season could depend on how he fares in the Morgiana.

"I'm playing with the idea of running him there. It would be a good place to start the season," said trainer Christy Roche yesterday. Youlneverwalkalone hasn't run since winning at Gowran in February but has been schooled over fences and delighted his connections.

Aidan O'Brien has a trio of runners, Castle Gandolfo, Ballingarry and Black Sam Bellamy, in today's Criterium de St Cloud, and Dermot Weld's Lethal Agenda is scheduled to run in tomorrow's Listed Prix Contessina at Maisons-Laffitte.
