The Kilmore club in Roscommon last night moved to again forward a motion at Congress which would, if passed, give central council the power to amend the contentious Rule 42.
The proposal, which would make it feasible for other sports to be held at Croke Park, was at the centre of a storm when it failed to gain the two-thirds majority by just a single vote. The vote was taken the day after it was revealed the Government had agreed to give the GAA over £60 million.
"I think club members were quite hopeful on the Friday before the vote it would be passed and there was disappointment when it fell short. But there was a feeling the announcement of the grant affected the outcome of the vote," said Tommy Kenoy.
