Mount Temple just about deserved to shade this contest with their second-row forward and captain, John Miller, battling through a painful shoulder injury which had threatened to signal a premature exit for the gallant number five. Indeed, the duel between Miller and his opposite number, Andrew Hall, proved one of the high points of this Section A fixture which saw holders Wilson's Hospital relinquish their crown.
The issue was settled early on when Temple's right wing, Mark Adams, converted a penalty, but a lack at options among the backs made for a low-scoring affair as Wilson's failed to land three penalty opportunities.
