Mullingar had much to celebrate recently with the election of Cathy Smith to the position of president of the Irish Ladies Golf Union. The club are now the holders of two of the major positions in Irish golf with Albert Lee already in his second year as chairman of the Leinster Branch GUI. Two former internationals will be very much involved in team selections this year with Eavan Higgins named as captain of the Irish senior side and also the ILGU's representative on the LGU training committee while Killarney's Brigid Gleeson Healy will manage the girls' team.
