Dermot Weld has confirmed he will send Mutakarrim for Wednesday's Tote Ebor as the Irish challenge for the York festival gathers strength.

"Mutakarrim is in very good form and runs," Weld said of the horse who is a 16 to 1 shot with most of the major firms for Europe's richest handicap.

The Curragh trainer has decided not to send his smart two-year-old filly Steaming Home for the Lowther Stakes but Sophisticat looks set to represent Aidan O'Brien in the Group Two race.

Other two-year-old candidates from Ballydoyle will be Rock Of Gibralter in the Gimcrack Stakes, Toreador in tomorrow's Acomb Stakes and possibly the newcomer Della Francesia in the Moorestyle Convivial Stakes.

The Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Black Minnaloushe leads the O'Brien challenge in tomorrow's Juddmonte International and Milan will reportedly run in the Great Voltiguer.

The other Group One hopefuls will be Mozart in Thursday's Nunthorpe Stakes and the Irish Oaks third Karsavina in Wednesday's Yorkshire Oaks.

Paul Carberry has already notched up 22 winners in the new jumps season and can extend his lead over Barry Geraghty (20) with a double at Roscommon today.

Snob Wells ran third to Sweet Brief at Galway and should be up to coping with the Tipperary flat winner Orchestral Strings while the Galway novice winner River Pilot can follow up in the handicap chase.

Carberry also holds obvious claims in the handicap hurdle with Chanoud but marginal preference is for Tom Foley's Tipperary winner Indimaaj.

Ha-Pa is still rated a pound lower than his last start of 2,000 despite winning easily at Killarney in July. His trainer Joe Canty won the mile-an-a-half handicap with Furnitureville last year and Ha-Pa can follow up.

Madamaa returns to the course and distance of her maiden success in the fillies handicap. The Weld runner ran over a mile and a half before being slightly hampered behind Last Theatre at the Curragh and is selected ahead of the frustrating Dafariyna.

John Oxx runs two in the maiden and John Murtagh's decision to ride the newcomer Nebulae looks significant.

The impressive Naas winner Hunters Bar looks good for the last.
