Willie Mullins could have a double in successive handicap hurdles at Clonmel today with Mykon Gold (1.45) and Jimmy The Lark (2.15). Although Mykon Gold has a penalty for his win at Tramore this week, a reading of the result suggests that he ran well above his handicap mark and therefore should not be stopped by a penalty.
He met both the placed horses Clash Of The Gales and Mariners Reef on worse than handicap terms and still ran right away from them to win by nine lengths.
Jimmy The Lark started favourite at Cork last time out but went lame and finished a remote sixth to Amy Johnson. A more accurate view to his ability was seen in a stayers hurdle at Wexford when he came home with six lengths to spare over today's top weight Blackburn. A reproduction of that would make him a worthy nap.
Mullins could also figure in the finish to the handicap chase with Toureen Gale but Shisoma is preferred. With Dudley Do Right a flop over hurdles, failing to win his maiden and so far a disappointment over fences, Lady Daisy should be able to outclass her field in the Clonmel Printers Beginners Chase.
