Nap for Name Of Our Father

Name Of Our Father is napped to make the most of a quick reappearance in the Kerry Handicap Hurdle at Chepstow today

Name Of Our Father is napped to make the most of a quick reappearance in the Kerry Handicap Hurdle at Chepstow today. Trainer Peter Bowen certainly is not one to keep his charges under wraps - witness last season's exploits of Stately Home - and the policy is paying dividends with the four-year-old. Name of Our Father has more or less been kept on the go since last December and one could easily forgive him for a rare lacklustre performance when well beaten at Worcester in June. Bowen gave the gelding a couple of months rest and he bounced back with a win at Cartmel.

Since then, he has proved ultra-consistent, winning three more races and finishing second on all his other starts. Last Saturday, he crushed five rivals in a class B handicap hurdle at Ascot, beating Clifton Set 17 lengths.

It appears that Name of Our Father is better than ever given a stamina test on soft ground. With today's opposition less than daunting, he should make light of a 6lb penalty in class C company.

Donjuan Collonges was unlucky not to win at Worcester a fortnight ago, making virtually all - having been well-touted in the ring - before capsizing at the last and handing the race on a plate to Kamikaze.

The handicapper has not been harsh in raising Tim Forster's six-year-old only a pound for that run and provided he stays on his feet, Donjuan Collonges looks sure to take all the beating in the Sterling Handicap Chase.

At Hexham, Mary Reveley has good prospects of a double. Elusive Star caused a big upset when scoring at Wetherby earlier in the month but now that he has found the winning thread, has the scope to go on and is the one to beat in the Royal Oak Handicap Hurdle. The consistent Country Orchid can tee up the brace in the EBF Novices' Hurdle.
