The 2000 National Hurling League will begin on February 20th and the most attractive of the opening-day fixtures will be the re-enactment of this year's All-Ireland final between Cork and Kilkenny. The counties will meet at Nowlan Park.
Despite being holders, Cork's last league season ended in disappointment as they failed to make the play-offs in defence of their title. Kilkenny were eliminated at the semi-finals stage by a late goal from Galway's Alan Kerins.
Pick of the fixtures in the other first division section will be the meeting of last season's finalists Galway and All-Ireland semi-finalists Offaly.
The regulation league campaign runs from February 20th to April 16th in Division One and until May 14th in the lower division play-offs.
