Division One A

Meath v Dublin (Navan)

The big defeat by Clare was an ominous indicator of how tough life will be for Meath in Division One. Dublin aren't quite in Clare's category but should win this.

Galway v Clare (Ballinasloe)

Have these counties swapped perspectives on the league? Galway looked listless in their first title defence in Birr and are apparently in the middle of very heavy training. Clare, we are told, wish to take the league seriously. Only one result possible then? Possibly but no-one got rich betting on Clare's League matches.

Antrim v Offaly (Casement Park)

Minus the Dunloy players, Antrim got whacked by Limerick. It's hard to see them winning this but two years ago they did. Offaly's manager Michael Bond must have been pleased by the displays of some of his younger charges and with all those Birr players absent, he will have the opportunity to experiment further.

Division One B

Derry v Tipperary (Slaughtneil, 1.30)

It was noted before last year's fixture between the counties that Tipperary rarely go easy on teams they can wallop. And so it happened. This time Derry should do better - without materially affecting the outcome.

Wexford v Waterford (New Ross, 2.15)

Gerald McCarthy takes the brave but inevitable step of dropping Paul Flynn after a poor sequence of performances. Victor O'Shea's debut display at wing back was encouraging last week but this will be a step up for him. After his umpteenth win (well, third in two months) over Laois, Tony Dempsey will be glad of the variety. This will be a good marker as to where Wexford stand. Home win.

Kilkenny v Laois (Nowlan Park)

The All-Ireland champions name a strong team. Just back from their exotic holiday, Kilkenny will be vulnerable to the hard-training and fired- up Laois. Given the visitors' manifest shortcomings, that mightn't spell defeat for Kilkenny but then again, it might.

Division Two

London v Kerry, (Ruislip)

A re-assuring win for Kerry last week should be the springboard for another despite London's creditable draw with Westmeath.

Roscommon v Westmeath (Athleague)

Westmeath should have enough in reserve to take the points off their neighbours across the Shannon.

Down v Kildare (Ballycran)

Apologies to Kildare, whose fine Kehoe Cup win was last week attributed to Wicklow. Despite having beaten Louth last week and Down's narrow defeat in Arklow, Kildare will find it hard to win.

Carlow v Wicklow (Dr Cullen Park)

The value of a Poc Fada champion was vividly displayed by Wicklow goalkeeper Colin Byrne's late winning free from the adjoining parish. Carlow were however remorseless in Roscommon and should be too good for the visitors.

Division Three

Monaghan v Fermanagh (Scotstown)

Away win, probably.

Sligo v Leitrim (Markievicz Park)

Sligo debut in this season's League and they can make it first time lucky.

Tyrone v Mayo (Carrickmore)

Bit of a battle for Tyrone against Cavan last week. Maybe it's brought them on. Mayo to find out.

Donegal v Cavan (Celtic Park)

Yes, that's Celtic Park in Derry. Why? According to one senior GAA source: "Sure it's as handy as anywhere else." Indeed, and handier than Dubai.
