Colin Lowth set an Irish senior record at the National Swimming Championships at the Grove Pool, Belfast, last night. The Cormorant clubman, competing in the 200 metres butterfly final, finished on 2:00.30 as he shaved half a second off the previous best set by Paul McCarthy, who was beaten into second place.
McCarthy's New Ross clubmate Hugh O'Connor added two more gold medals to his collection when he won the 100m backstroke (55.52) and the 50m freestyle (23.44).
