ALL-IRELAND HURLING SEVENS: NENAGH EIRE Óg defeated fellow Tipperary club Portroe 3-20 to 4-10 in an entertaining final to win the Meteor Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland Hurling Sevens tournament on Saturday.
At half-time, there was just one point between the teams but the Nenagh side finally men pulled clear to record a decisive victory.
There was some consolation for Darren Gleeson, Portroe's goalkeeper, when he was chosen as Player of the Tournament.
Tipperary proved to be the dominant county at the competition as they provided all four of the semi-finalists.
Kilruane McDonaghs were defeated by Nenagh Éire Óg at the last four stage, while Portroe deprived Toomevara of a place in the final in a very close clash with just one point between the teams at the final whistle.
Monaghan team Castleblayney Faughs took the honours in the Shield competition.
