Newslines: Nemo set to appeal any Kavanagh ban

Nemo Rangers are almost certain to appeal the likely suspension of captain and corner back Larry Kavanagh

Nemo Rangers are almost certain to appeal the likely suspension of captain and corner back Larry Kavanagh. Kavanagh was sent off during Sunday's All-Ireland club semi-final against Carlow champions O'Hanrahan's. Although he hasn't been suspended yet, Kavanagh's case will be considered by the GAA's Games Administration Committee tomorrow night when they receive the report of Armagh referee Brendan Gorman.

"We've had no meeting since Sunday," said club secretary John O'Driscoll, "but there'll be one tomorrow (Tuesday) night. The general thinking is that we will appeal. Larry's shattered by the whole thing, especially as captain. He's a very popular player in the club."

If Kavanagh has been reported for striking, he faces a possible four-weeks suspension which would rule him out of the St Patrick's Day final.

Also in Cork, the county board has announced that dual county player Sean O hAilpin has been appointed project manager for the Designated Area Scheme in Cork City.
