Tommy Carr has given a clear vote of confidence to the Dublin team that beat Sligo for Saturday's All-Ireland quarter-final clash with Kerry in Semple Stadium, Thurles.

This means that the late call ups for that game, right corner back Shane Ryan, right corner forward Declan Darcy and right wing forward Enda Sheehy have been retained. The good news for Dublin is that Jim Gavin, who broke bones in his hand six weeks ago when playing for his club Round Towers in a Dublin SF League match, is now able to handle the ball in training. The "Towers" man has been added to the subs.

Westmeath SF

Westmeath have been forced to make one change to their team that beat Mayo two weeks ago. Fergal Wilson misses out after he broke his arm during that match. As expected, star forward Des Dolan returns to the team to replace him. Dolan is named at right corner forward, with Joe Fallon switching out to Wilson's spot at wing-forward.

Dolan's ability to survive 40 minutes in the extra-time thriller against Mayo convinced them he was ready to start a game for the first time since damaging his troublesome ankle against Louth on July 8th.

Dempsey revealed that many of his key players including star forward Ger Heavin, John Keane, Paul Conway and David O'Shaughnessy haven't trained since the Mayo game.

Kilkenny SH

Kilkenny have received a massive boost ahead of their All-Ireland hurling semi-final clash with Galway. The reigning champions, fresh from their provincial final victory over Wexford, have welcomed the return to training of both Peter Barry and John Power.

Both players successfully came through club county championship games over the weekend. The players picked up injuries in their Leinster semi-final win over Offaly in June. Barry received a broken thumb, while Power sustained a groin injury, which caused them to miss the Leinster final. Meanwhile, Willie O'Connor who captained Kilkenny to last year's All-Ireland final success is turning in outstanding displays for his club, Glenmore.

Westmeath (v Meath): C Mullin; J Keane, D Mitchell, F Murray; B Morley, D Murphy, D Healy; R O'Connell, D O'Shaughnessy; J Fallon, P Conway, M Ennis; D Dolan, M Flanagan, G Heavin.
